Reporting to the Director of Community Engagement (DCE), the Event Designer for Community Engagement (ED) will serve as the lead experience designer in the Community Engagement office and will be a collaborative strategic partner with areas across the school.
The Event Designer partners with key leaders and program managers across the school to design, plan and ensure the effective execution of a wide variety of experiences and events; with the broad goal of creating a deeper sense of connection to, appreciation for, and understanding of the Moses Brown culture, values, and educational experience with key constituencies (alumni, current students and families, prospective families and faculty and staff).
The ED focuses on facilitating opportunities for constituents to live, touch, feel, understand, and enjoy membership in the MB community - and, in the process, develops passionate word-of-mouth ambassadors, supports the organizational goals for attrition, donor and alumni loyalty, and connection, and increase in admission inquiries, applicants, and yield rates.
To facilitate effective logistical planning and execution of on-campus events, the ED is an active All-School Events Logistics Team member, collaborating with colleagues from Facilities & Operations, Technology, the Woodman Center and Auxiliary Services.
Working with the COO and the DCE, this position also supports the development and management of the All-School Calendar.
Major
Responsibilities:
Lead designer and logistical coordinator in the planning for and execution of events focusing on Admissions, Advancement, Parent Hospitality, Head of School and community educational programming events.
(60%)The ED will support and advocate for school-wide expectations and culture around excellence in experience design and events, bringing an audience-centric focus.
The ED is a creative partner with various program managers in the conceptualization of event experiences and also managing planning details (timelines, checklists, budgets, staffing plans and logistics for each event).
Be a key partner with program managers to ensure high quality experiences in major public-facing events involving key constituencies; Admissions, Advancement and current families to elevate and help to execute key events throughout year:
Admissions & Enrollment - specific to the enrollment experience (visit days, special external events, Open House events, and revisit celebrations).
Advancement - partnering with key events, programs and experiences to help increase donor, parent and alumni loyalty and connection.
The ED will support the Parents Association (PA) and Academic Divisions in a consultant role for family events and programming including but not limited to:
Parent-Teacher Conference Days, Back-to-School Nights, PA programming, Athletics and Arts social events/ banquets/ performances.
The ED also organizes the procurement, storage, and maintenance of all event related materials (banners, signage, in-house technology, basic event supplies, etc.
).
Member of the All-School Events Logistics Committee & Supporter of the All-School Calendar process (25%)Collaborating with colleagues from Facilities & Operations, Technology, Auxiliary Services, and Woodman Production managers to ensure effective execution of on-campus events and develop school-wide systems and policies that enhance efficiency.
Play a supporting role in the development and maintenance of the all-school calendar.
In partnership with Communications, working weekly on the coordination of weekly communication (MB Weekly) and promotion of events; Ensure the details of the calendar and events are effectively shared with and maintained by key constituencies both internally and externally;Institutional Hospitality:
The Family Experience, Admissions, and Alumni Engagement (15%)Work with the DCE to create a school-wide commitment to parent/family satisfaction and hospitality.
Support the work of the DCE in strengthening the user experience, sense of community and overall satisfaction among our parent body.
Working with the Assoc.
Head for CE, the Director of CE, the Parents and Alumni Associations and other schoolhouse partners to support and create highly visible programs for parents and local alumni, and to strategically host a targeted number of broader public events, that create a culture of engagement and learning at every level of the community.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
