Senior Lead Track Engineer

This OpportunityWSP is currently initiating a search for a part-time Senior Lead Track Engineer for our Boston, MA office.
The following locations will also be considered:
Providence, RI, Worcester, MA and Glastonbury, CT.

Your Impact Provide design leadership for track design and support of railroad and transit design projects and pursuits.
Maintain strong, effective relationships with external clients and market WSP services to local railroads and transit agencies.
Coordinate and lead engineering efforts on all stages of rail infrastructure projects ranging from planning to design to construction and maintenance support.
Sustain the growth of younger engineers by assigning appropriate technical tasks and promoting a culture of expanding technical excellence.
The position may require occasional travel throughout the New England Region (MA, CT, RI, NH, VT, ME) or elsewhere in the United States.
Mentor staff to support their growth and professional development.
Remain current in latest transit and rail engineering techniques and practices.
Collaborate with professionals from a variety of disciplines, other engineers, planners, and infrastructure authorities on Federal, State, regional, and locally funded improvement and development projects, as well as proposal and business development opportunities.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You AreRequired Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering or related field 10
years' railroad, passenger railroad, and/or rail transit industry experience with either (or combination of) a railroad, a transit agency or an engineering consultant firm MA Professional Engineer's License or ability to obtain within one year Proven ability to deliver railroad and transit design projects in the role of lead designer or specialist Proficiency in CADD software used in civil and rail design, such as design platforms based on Microstation or Autocad Demonstrated verbal and written communications skills.
This includes the ability to present design concepts and principles in verbal and written form to audiences with a wide spectrum of backgrounds, from technical manager to ordinary citizen.
Demonstrated effectiveness at coordinating and assertively directing subcontractors and others to consistently complete tasks safely and efficiently.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Must be flexible to a variety of schedules to meet business needs and able to prioritize responsibilities and quickly adapt to change in a pressure work environment.
Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
This role is subject to a client-mandated drug/alcohol testing policy.
As such, employee may be subject to random drug/alcohol tests.

Preferred
Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Engineering.
Working knowledge of design requirements for rail systems (e.
g.
traction power, catenary, signals).
