Responsibilities:
Control System Operations:
Monitor and adjust HVAC systems, including heating, cooling, ventilation, and refrigeration equipment, using an energy management systemEnsure that systems are operating efficiently, maintaining appropriate temperature, humidity levels, and air quality within designated spacesRespond promptly to alarms and system malfunctions, troubleshooting issues and implementing corrective actionsMaintenance and Repair:
Perform preventive maintenance tasks on HVAC systems and related equipment to ensure their proper functioningConduct inspections and routine checks to identify potential issues and perform necessary repairs or replacementsCollaborate with maintenance staff to address mechanical and electrical issues related to HVAC control systemsControl System Troubleshooting:
Diagnose and troubleshoot control system malfunctions and abnormalities to identify the root cause of the problemUtilize diagnostic tools and software to analyze system performance and make adjustments or repairs as necessaryCoordinate with external vendors or specialists for complex troubleshooting or system upgradesCalibration and Adjustment:
Calibrate and adjust control devices, sensors, and equipment to ensure accurate measurement and control of temperature, pressure, humidity, and other variablesVerify and validate system settings, ensuring compliance with industry standards and energy efficiency guidelinesDocument calibration activities and maintain accurate records for reference and compliance purposesSystem Upgrades and Improvements:

Perform regular inspections and maintenance tasks on HVAC control systems, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing parts as necessaryAssist in the development and implementation of preventive maintenance schedules and procedures for control systemsConduct training sessions for maintenance staff and other relevant personnel on control system operations and maintenanceCollaborate with the Facilities Director to identify and prioritize control system improvement projects based on energy efficiency and cost savingsCoordinate with external vendors and contractors for specialized control system repairs, upgrades, or installationsStay up-to-date with industry regulations and standards related to control systems, and ensure compliance in all control system activitiesSupport the Facilities Director in budgeting and forecasting for control system maintenance and improvement projectsMaintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring proper storage and inventory management of control system components and spare parts
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalentAdditional technical certifications in HVAC systems, controls, or related fields are preferredProven experience working with HVAC control systems, including hands-on experience with chillers, boilers, and other HVAC equipmentStrong knowledge of energy management systems, control devices, sensors, and their integration with HVAC systemsProficiency in reading and interpreting control diagrams, blueprints, and technical manualsExcellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve control system malfunctionsFamiliarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and control system softwareStrong understanding of safety protocols and regulations related to HVAC systems and control systemsAbility to work independently and collaboratively in a team environmentEffective communication skills to interact with stakeholders, vendors, and other team membersThe HVAC Controls Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the optimal operation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems through the use of control systems and hands-on workThis position requires a strong technical background, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining energy efficiency and environmental sustainability.
