For sale is an outstanding example of a 1920's Gibson Mastertone Banjo. The serial number falls into a range that was used in 1925. The holes in the rim indicate that it originally had a "shoes and plate" design,The 40-hole archtop tone ring didn't come in until 1928 and the one-piece flange did not come in until 1929, so those elements were added later. So someone had some work done on it, but it was all done in the 1920's. I was also told at some point the neck was replaced. I am not a banjo expert, so I am just going by what I was told when I had it looked at by one, so Please see all photos for more about the banjo and condition.
